Hanging up the cleats was the hardest decision I ever made. Realizing reality is rough, but at the end of the day a relief. Good job, Mason....when you dream about still playing realize it's good memories instead of what could have been. Well done. You did yourself and your family/friends proud, and now it's on to new horizons.

We all understand about saving money etc. But you don’t grow up until you are out in your own, apartment, dorm, Frat house. Mom is still washing clothes, cooking etc.

I stayed home for all four years and played college golf and it was a great decision. Hope it goes well and it can be different but a good journey.

My expectation was to play college softball for all four years but I actually hate college and realize it ain’t for me so I had to hang my cleats three months ago and I was upset too but I had to do what’s best for me and honestly college and playing a sport overall is very difficult no matter what level it is so I don’t blame Mason

I’m starting college in Early September at Grand Canyon University. And I have orientation this Friday.

Mason congrats on a great baseball career you have had a lot of experiences that most people will never have. You will find life to be difficult at times but rewarding in the long run.

So when are you gonna tell us what college he is going to and are you gonna tell us about his job....its sad that he wont play baseball anymore but good luck to him in college and at his job

Where is Mason Going to College?

I would love to see Mason do baseball for a couple years in the future after a well deserved break from sports, a league not affiliated with MLB would be fun for a few years after or later on during college but not for the college baseball team. 10:45 I’ve been to Leavenworth Washington it’s beautiful but packed around Christmas/New Years which is when we went. Snow in that area and green, rainy and cloudy in Seattle which I also visited. I wouldn’t recommend going out at night alone and always be aware of your surroundings major cities in blue states are a little backwards on common sense.

Wow, mature decision by Mason to not chase a dream that's just very hard to turn into reality. Even more remarkable is getting an academic scholarship, especially considering his busy schedule👏. Proud parents for a very good reason

I was in the same boat as mason all year with soccer instead of baseball. Played my whole life but decided not to keep playing in college after the school season in the fall. Turned out to be the best thing for me since it let me focus on volleyball which i picked up my junior year and ended up getting good enough to play at my local d3 school

i am also commuting to my university this year (also a freshman on scholarship) i also didn't want to live in the dorms as it would be more expensive and I would rather safe my money for a future apartment, also congrats to mason on honors college!

I commuted to college and then transferred after my associates degree. I will always recommend going to a community college first to save money. Good choice Mason, and good luck!

Went to community college for two years, transferred to a four-year college, and graduated in May. I am glad I commuted because I did not owe any debt and could work and go to school full-time for both.

Hey Beevos! I had a similar situation like Masons but mine was volleyball, played all my life, loved it and decided to stop when entering to college (I was #1 in state so everyone was shocked), but something in me said it was time to let it go and built a career, at the end of the day sports end and you don’t want to make them you’re whole life. So I applaud Masons decision and even more the staying at home one! I’m a junior at college and my advice to him if you let me give you one, would be to worry about you, you have the opportunity to go to college, take advantage of that cuz many don’t, and now you have a Job! That’s awesome! I started working 2 months in after stating college cuz I wanted to start relating the “theoretical” part of my career (college) with the “practical” part (work) and believe me, you’re going to see and difference between you and you’re classmates. You’re going to star actually learning money value and that leads to mature decision, not the mention work is like a ultra master college class, although college is important as well. I guess you’ll have the best of both worlds and at least other 4 years with your parents, and believe me that’s awesome cuz they’re not going to be here forever and they can actually carry real good advice. Sounds like hes gonna be a busy man but if his schedule allows and he still wants to be involved in the game maybe he should look into umpiring and giving back to the game thats given him so much.. The shortage of officals across the nation is real and with his knowledge im sure hed be great
